Based on: 1946 Ford Convert

Engine: 392 Hemi

Horsepower: HP

Suspension: Mustang II & a 9

Completed:

The owner of the NewMad has decided it is time for another rod, but this time he is aiming to keep the build simple. The initial plans center around a resto-rod concept with just a hint of custom mixed in for good measure. The body will remain relatively stock with the exception of a 2-inch chop and a few custom trim pieces. Under the hood a 392ci Hemi will be fed by an EFI system cleverly disguised as a quartet of Stromberg’s. The chassis and the rest of the drive train is kept simple and reliable with the industry standard Mustang II front suspension, 700R4 transmission, 9 inch rear end, and parallel leaf springs. Other amenities will include A/C, power windows, and a full custom interior. “One-off” tail lights were faricated from scratch at a concept design fabrication studio in Detroit. All of the side trim and grille trim was fabricated from brass stock. The custom door handles, mirror bases, lighted hood ornament and third brake light/trunk handle were shaped out of brass castings. Vacuum operated A/C vents sit on top of the woodgrained dash where the ash trays once were.
